Mock Half Brioche
  1. You set the Russell levers out and then start with the 2nd needle in and push EON to HP. Then knit 3 rows.
  2. Then put the Russell lever back to the carriage so that it will knit all the stitches, even in HP, if the carriage is on the left, then put the right Russell lever back.
  3. For the machines that will not do that, then first put the needles from HP to FWP and then the opposite needles to HP but not the end needles, let those knit each row.
  4. Next put that Russell lever back out and starting with the 3rd needle in, push out EON and knit 3 rows, again put the Russell lever so that it will knit all the stitches back for 1 more row.
  5. Continue repeating this for as long as you need.

Using a Punch Card to do the above

Here is the punch card made for the above way, so that you won't have to manually put the Russell Levers back and forth.

Of if you want to do the Two Color Brioche, really didn't come out as I wanted it to, so not really a Brioche stitch but makes a nice piece of fabric, just use your #1 card and set your machine to knit 2 rows of the same line, for the Singer machines, set that one lever to "L" and the brother machine, put the lever all the way back to the long upside triangle.

2 Color Brioche on the Singer Bulky and Brother Standard double beds

For the Singer Bulky double bed machines

Cast on your favorite way. I would think that if one were to cast on, on the knitter only with many rows of WY, then a row of ravel cord, push the needles out to HP and e-wrap cast on with your MC, Knit 1 row and then transfer EOS over to the Ribber.

  1. With CC, put Russell Levers on Knitter to HP and needles to HP, set ribber to normal
  2. Knit 2 rows
  3. Change to MC yarn
  4. Put both side levers on the ribber to 0 and the Cam to "0" (Keep the cam on the "0" for the whole project)
  5. Knit 2 rows
  6. Change back to CC yarn and repeat the above directions

For the Brother double bed machines

Cast on your favorite way with MC, as mentioned above, you may want to start out with WY on the knitter only and then transfer the stitches to the ribber as needed.

  1. With the CC yarn, push in both Tuck buttons on the Knitter and Ribber set to N
  2. Knit 2 rows
  3. Change to MC yarn again
  4. Push the Plain switch to bring out the knitter Tuck buttons and set the ribber to tuck, by pushing up the 2 P-R Cam levers and the Tucking lever to P
  5. Knit 2 rows
  6. Change back to CC and put ribber back to normal knitting repeat the above directions as long as you need
