Wash Cloth, Baby Blanket or Baby Hooded Towel
Gauge is not a factor here, but it is good to get a looser than normal
stitch in my opinion.
NOTE, once you get enough
stitches into working, then use your cast on comb unless your machine doesn't
need one.
It is recommended to use either claw weights or fork claw weights on the ends so that they knit up good, and move them up every few rows.
Now to decrease.
For a washcloth you may do around 25 rows and you would want to use a cotton yarn.
For the hooded baby towel, also cotton yarn would be nice, but after Decreasing when you are back to 3 (4 or 5)
stitches, then start increasing again for a little triangle which becomes the hood.
For a baby blanket, go as much as you want, when I did one on the mid gauge, I did use all needles, then back down to the original cast on
stitches.

Now Knit a few rows and reform the last few rows to rib.
