by Dianna Michaluk

Light Worsted Weight Sweater
size XL
KP 2 1/2
Front and back exactly same.

  1. Cast on 111 stitches.
  2. Rib 30 rows.
  3. Knit to row 142. Decrease 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
  4. For arm. Row 143-144, mark end of rows with CC yarn.
  5. Knit more rows to row 200.
  6. Bind off in your usual way.
  7. For long sweater, if sweater is to come to waist , then decrease rows by 30 from bottom to under arm.

Sleeve. Make two.

  1. Cast on 100 stitches. Mark center stitch.
  2. Knit to row 12. decrease each side on every third row until row 40.
  3. Then every 4th row until row 100.
  4. Rib 30 rows.
  5. My ribbing is xxoxxoxxoxxoxx
  6. Sew pieces together. Leave neck opening collar may or may not be added at your discretion.

Collar

41 stitches in front and back. Ribbing is suggested. Number of rows is entirely up you. Depends on how high you want the collar. Stand up or fold over.

Attach sleeves with center mark to shoulder seam.
Sew from hem to under arm and down sleeve to cuff.
Hide all yarn ends for neat finish.

PONCHO

  1. Very thick yarn. Key plate 3
  2. 100 needles. EON – Do not rib. Do not decrease for under arm.
  3. Knit until desired length. Bind off. Do not remove stitches from long weight. Turn knitting around so you are now working on what was bottom. Put these stitches back on needles. Knit 2 rows.
  4. Decrease each side every 3rd or 4th row depending on the yarn you are using. Decreasing stitches too close to each other will cause the yarn, and your knitting to fold under and buckle.
  5. When you have 3 center stitches left. Bind off.
  6. Remove from weight and attach a fringe. Make exactly same for front and back.
  7. Sleeves are made from from same pattern as for sweater light knitting worsted yarn.
  8. Sew poncho shoulders together leaving an opening for neck. Then attach sleeves. And sew side seams.

May be worn as an outdoor garment or as a cover up on chilly nights.
