Notes on what I did in my video part 1 and part 2
I did use Red Heart Jumbo Super Saver (10 ounces or 238 grams) in Amethyst Bon Bon color (guess this is no longer available) and weighs 11 1/2 ounces (326 grams) when finished. So if you are going to make a larger project, then you would need more yarn of course.
TD4/4 On the bulky double bed, I did get 5 stitches and 6 1/2 rows per inch in Stockinet
I am pretty sure this will fit a slender young teenCast on 58 stitches on both beds in Waste Yarn
Then start out with the tubular cast on, you can even work up a few more rows of the tube but you need to get to the U-Shape Knitting. Maybe even work up 1 row both beds of ravel cord
Then switch over to the MY with live stitches and set counter to zero's
(I did use the 2 beds for U-Shape Knitting but could have very easily worked this on the knitter with 106 stitches)
For the Studio type machines, you will put one side lever on the knitter forward and the other keep back, set the Cam to Slip. On the ribber, put the opposite side lever up to 1 and keep the other side lever to zero.
For the Brother machines, you will push one Part button on the knitter in and keep the other Part button out.
On the Ribber, you will put the opposite cam to P.R and the opposite to N
Then for both machines, you will reverse all levers so that it will knit the U-Shape Knitting
Knit 98 (156) rows
Now take off of WY and put on so that the ends meet in the middle of one of the beds, we will work tubular from here on
It is up to you how long the bottom part will be, that is more for the feet of the person
What I did was Decrease 1 stitch each side every 10 rows (on the counter) 6 times, then
every 6th row (on the counter) one time
(Decrease 1 stitch every 6 rows (on the counter) twice, then 1 stitch
each side every 4 rows (on the counter) 5 times) 44 stitches, you can either bind off here or even work off on WY, when I
got to the sewing, it would have been live stitches on the circular hand
knitting needle, then the ribbed tail put in between them.
FOR THE TAIL
Now here you can just put all stitches to the knitter and knit 1 row to close this off, then select stitches to go to the ribber for your rib, I did a 2x2 rib, you can so what rib you want but you will need to increase instead of decreasing as I did in the video
K 4 rows even
Increase 1 stitch every 2 rows 18 times
I did knit 4 rows plain in the end
Then I bound off all stitches, if you like, you can take off on WY and hand bind off
The 2nd way to work the tail so that is looks more like a fish tail, Increase until you have the same amount of stitches you started out with on one bed from the beginning
Then put half the stitches to hold, set your carriage to Hold
Decrease 1 stitch on the inside edge every row until you have 2 stitches left, or you can go to 1 stitch left. Bind off.
It weighs finished 19 ounces (538 grams)
