Worked on the Bulky Knitting Machine
TD4 one row, TD10 the next row, repeat these 2 rows
Cast on 22 stitches at TD4
Knit 16 rows
Decrease 1 stitch on 1 side only every third row by taking the last 3 stitches and moving them in one so that needle 3 from the end will have 2 stitches on it until you have 12 stitches, that would be 30 rows total for decreasing
Knit 14 rows even
Increase 1 stitch on 1 side only every third row by taking the last 3 stitches and moving them out one and pick up the purl bump from the row before to fill in the empty needle until you have 22 stitches in work, that would be 30 rows total for increasing
Knit 16 rows even. Bind off. Sew cast on edge to bound off edge. Purl side is the public side.
Now I did work up an eyelet every 2nd row on both sides, to help stop the curling but I did have to steam this one as well.
The first one I didn't add the eyelets, it still curls a little bit but not much. So up to you if you want to do the eyelets.
If you want to make for a child, you would start out with less stitches, work less rows as well as less decreasing and increasing.
