Slip Stitch Hat

So what I did for the hat was first cast on a multiple of 8 stitches plus 2 stitches

Knitted up 1x1 ribbing for 10 or 12 rows, depending on the size I were to make but increase 1 stitch on the last row so you will have 2 stitches for selvage

Then I knitted 2 rows of the white (MC)

Take the MC out and put in the CC yarn

Then I set my carriage to slip (part on the brother machines) and put the side levers forward so that the machine will not knit the needles in Work Position

Next I selected the needles starting with needle 3 from the end as in the first chart, knitted 1 row

Select the same needles and knit back 1 row

Take out the CC yarn and put the MY back in the carriage and set carriage back to Stockinet, knit 2 rows

Switch to the MY and starting on the end, bring out the 4 end needles, skip 2 needles and then bring out 6 needles, you will end up with 4 needles on the other end brought out

Take the CC out and put in the MY in and Knit 2 rows

Then repeat the 8 rows for as long as you need

Here is the chart (click on picture to get full size or print out) I used for the manual selecting needles but also for the 8 stitch push button machines

Here is the chart to punch up a 24 stitch repeat punch card

Here is the chart for the 12 stitch repeat punch card

Here is the hand knit version that is done in garter stitch (knit each row)
