Machine Knit Baby Soaker 1

Note, these are just average measurements and may not fit the baby you may want to make this for. If your gauge is not as I have, then the final project will be smaller or larger than I was able to get

The good thing is it will fit a baby somewhere

TD3 on the LK150

Gauge: 5 stitches and 7 rows equals 1 inch

I am using "Patons Totem, 8 ply 100 percent Australian yarn", which should be about the same as (#3) light worsted or Double Knit yarn here in the United States

This I believe would be for baby 3 to 6 months of age

  1. Cast on 99 stitches leaving about a foot of yarn tail
  2. Knit 7 rows
  3. Transfer EOS over one to create picot hem, put empty needles out of work
  4. TD4, Knit 1 row
  5. Put empty needles back to work
  6. Knit 3 rows
  7. I am making eyelets at 5 stitches from each end to put a cord through the hem later on
  8. Knit 3 more rows
  9. Hang first row to close hem
  10. Dec 1 stitch every 3 rows 12 times
  11. Then 1 stitch every 2 rows 37 times
  12. Bind off, start sewing up
  13. For boys you may want to do 8 rows of rib but you may need a row of eyelets for a cord to go through

Now work a 3 stitch I cord long enough to go through row of eyelets and have a bow, thread through the waistband

Double Bed Ribbed and Stockinet Soaker 2

One can work this on a knitter only with reforming the rib areas

TD3 on the Singer SK155

Gauge: 5 stitches and 7.5 rows = 1 inch

This time I am using some Double Knit Weight yarn

  1. CO 42 stitches
  2. Knit several rows of WY and a row of ravel cord
  3. Push needles out to HP and work behind the open latches
  4. E-Wrap CO with MY and knit 1 row
  5. Transfer stitches to ribber to make 2 x 2 rib
  6. Hang ribber comb and barrel weights
  7. Knit 7 rows
  8. Transfer 1 ribber stitch to the next ribber stitch to form eyelets
  9. Knit 7 rows
  10. Transfer all ribber stitches to knitter
  11. Remove connecting arm and insert sinker plate to the knitter carriage
  12. Knit 22 rows (RC 36)
  13. Transfer same stitches to ribber to form 2x2 rib
  14. Knit 40 rows (RC 76)
  15. Transfer ribber stitches to knitter and knit 22 more rows (RC 98)
  16. Transfer stitches to ribber to form 2x2 rib
  17. Knit 7 rows (RC 105), transfer 1 ribber stitch to the next to form eyelets again
  18. Knit 6 more rows.
  19. TD 10 and knit 1 last row. Cut yarn to leave enough for sewing up seam (RC 112)

Now work a 3 stitch I cord long enough to go through row of eyelets and have a bow, thread through the waistband
