Casting on for the Singer type Double Bed 1x1 Rib

You will put both Tension Dials to zero, cam lever to ^ or Stockinet, I tend to start with the carriage on the right so that when I thread the wire in the ribber comb, I am right handed and only do a 2 row tubular instead of 3 row tubular rows.

Have your Swing Handle (Racking Indicator) to a P3 position so that the needles would touch each other if you brought out all needles.  (When you do the Full Needle Rib, you would set the racking indicator to H (I remember this as half so the needles are offset))

Bring out your needles as needed.  Make sure the needles do not touch the other needles on the other bed

Now you set up your carriages.  First you will put the side levers on the knitter carriage forward to the circles.

The Russell Levers (on the front of the carriage) set back to the ||

Now the Pick lever will be on the circle

The Driving Lever set back and not sticking out

On the Ribber Carriage, you have the Russell Levers set to ||

Both Set Levers to 1

Pick Knob set to

Pile knob Up, (those are the thing on the side of the ribber, helps set the ribber up a little higher).

Then you will thread the yarn into the connecting arm and get the ribber back up in place.  I will tend to put a clothes pin or one of my other clips to hold the yarn down.

Then you knit across and it will do a zigzag row.

Next you hang your ribber comb and put on, well I like to put on at least 2 barrel weights but if close to 2/3 or all of the needles, I will put one in the middle also.

Now you will put the Left Side Lever on the knitter back to the upside triangle

Set the cam to Slip the one with the circle with a line in the middle of it

Knit across, it will knit on one bed, then knit back and it will knit the other bed.

Then set your carriage back to normal, stockinet, side levers to the circles on the knitter and to 1 on the ribber.

Now set your TD to what you need for your ribbing and just knit

Well you may want to reset your counter to zeros if it was counting the few cast on rows.  Sometimes you may want to set the TD on the ribber 1 or 2 whole numbers down as some ribbers are that way, they tend to knit the ribber stitches larger than the knitter will.  But really up to you if you keep both of them set at the same number.

Well I hope I got it all right, if not please let me know, I will see it when I get out my double bed again and cast on for ribbing when I get to knit up a new to me thin sweater to replace my red one I have had for years.
