You can use Excel or any Spreadsheet software (Open Office & Libre Office has their freeware version) along with the Knitting Font that I tried to email the creator but that email address is no longer available but in the "License File", it does state this:
By installing and using this font,
knitpurlcbl.ttf, you agree that you install and test and/or
use this font at your own risk and that you accept all terms and
conditions of the license
as described in this document.
and this:
This font is FREEWARE, except for
software producers, resellers of fonts and
commercial publishers as noted above.
You may distribute this font to others
who you think might like to use it but ONLY IN
THE FORMAT OF THE ORIGINAL ZIP OR SELF-EXTRACTING ZIP FILE
CONTAINING ALL OF THE ANCILLARY FILES AS DESCRIBED IN
readmefirst.txt.
Specifically, you must include this document to insure the recipient has
and agrees to
this license agreement.
Maybe she will see this and get in touch with me. Now I am not sure how to install this on the Mac's but for the PC's, all you do is Right Click on the "knitpurlcbl.ttf" and Left Click to Install.
