I will be using a Lace Chart, hoping that I can help you understand these
Here is a sample of what a lace chart can look like (click on charts to view full size)
There are boxes with "O" in it, that will be an empty needle, but where to move the stitch that was on that needle?
You will see some charts with the "/" or "\" in it, that means to move the stitch in that direction
e.g. "/" means to move it right and "\" means to move it left
Now in some charts, there may be different symbols, for instance in this chart
Again, look at the way the slant goes, that is the way to move the stitch from the empty needle. This symbol represents 2 stitchs on one needle, hence the eyelet
Now if one will be increasing or decreasing while also doing lace eyelets
This is the correct chart and not the one I used in the video
In this case, on the outside is what looks like an upside down "Y". Again, look at the longer slant, that is the way the stitches are moved
In this case, they are moved to the left. The reverse upside down "Y" will be moved to the right
Now in reality, the chart should look something like above, but some charts will still have blank or empty boxes
Now to add a lace edging, I show a small sample here, you can add or subtract the eyelets, or even add a straight row of eyelets a few sts away from the inside eyelet.
